What have you put into your business? I know that when you feel desperate and don’t know what to do to get your business off the ground, all you can think of is what you can get OUT of it. But starting a small business is not a free ride. It’s like riding a bicycle: You start riding up hill, not going very fast, working very hard, and it takes a while until you can coast!

The news is terrible everywhere you turn. People are losing their jobs…their homes…their faith in the future. But you’re too busy for that nonsense because you have to scare up some new customers. That’s how it is when you’re self-employed. You can’t let the news run your life.

I frequently get asked how business is going. People are happy to hear that, “someone is making money”. And I am making money because I want to make the news; the good news, that is. People need to know that we can transcend hard times.

Kitty and Plato on the Porch

This is the inaugural release of The Window Cleaning Podcast. In the background you will hear Plato doing his best Hound of the Baskervilles imitation. This podcast is only 10 minutes and 16 seconds long and that includes music snippets from my son’s now-defunct band, Officer Flossie. It should not be too hard on the ears, and it is largely promotional in nature. Therefore, it is not for sale and it is not a part of the premium content.

This episode is a brief exposition on the first two items in the last post, “10 Bad Moves”. Future episodes will deal with other bad moves, some good moves, and how to make sure you have a business instead of your business having you!
